Burlington Slate has been quarried in the English Lake District for more than 300 Years from slate deposits formed over 330 million years ago. With large scale production starting in the early 19th century. The current company was formed in 1843 by consolidating several independent smaller operations into the world renowned company of today. It is still owned by the descendants of the original Cavendish family.
It is this Slate and also Westmorland green that I have personally installed on roofs for over 20 years while working in the Lake district in the UK. And I can honestly say I have yet to use a better Slate they really are the best and deserve to be called so.
